Low Back Pain Relief in Maryland, DC & Northern Virginia:

Low back pain is a significant problem affecting at least 60-70% of the population.  Prevalence of reoccurring low back pain is estimated to be as high as 75%.  Low back pain is a complicated condition that often occurs due to many different possible sources.  This makes low back pain difficult to treat because often each source of pain requires a different therapeutic solution.

osteopathetic manual therapy for lower back pain

Treatment for Low Back Pain:

Osteopathic Manual Therapy

(joint repositioning) for Low Back Pain:  This type of therapy used to treat low back pains decreases painful input by restoring normal lumbar joint function.  Restoring normal joint function helps to release contracted muscles (trigger points) adjacent to that spinal segment, releases subclinical nerve entrapments (neuropathy) and restores both normal nerve and muscle function.

Neuromechanical Therapy (ETPS) for Low Back Pain:

In its simplest form, ETPS is a non invasive hybrid modality that involves the application of concentrated low frequency direct currents to various points throughout the body that correlate with the individual's painful low back condition.  This results in the release of the body's natural pain relievers, called endorphins, to reduce low back pain.

Intramuscular Manual Therapy for Low Back Pain:

Based on scientific evidence combined with neurophysiological principles, this treatment for low back pain involves the deactivation of lumbar and pelvic muscular trigger points by inserting a thin filament needle into the muscular taut band or by using an 830 Cold Laser. Inactivation of the taut band restores the contracted band to its original length, which decreases low back pain and improves muscle flexibility, strength and function.

Postural Corrective Exercises for Low Back Pain:

Based on clinical findings and Biotonix postural assessments, corrective pain free exercises are provided to address areas of weakness and tightness that may be contributing to postural compensations and continued low back pain.
